Things to do in Edinburgh

Scotland v England on the 8th February 2014 at Murrayfield

six nations scotland event staffScotland v England on the 8th February 2014 at Murrayfield

The RBS 6 Nations has grown to be the biggest annual competition in world rugby. It’s a chance for fans to show their pride and passion, travelling to some of the best cities in Europe to mix with like-minded supporters.

Rugby fans of all ages revel in their own traditions – those of their team, their local club or their friends and family; those pre-match rituals that make a match-day so special.  Scotland have two home matches in this year’s Championship, with tickets available now.

The most over-subscribed game in the Scotland rugby calendar is the biennial match at Murrayfield against England – the oldest fixture in international rugby! There was powerful sense of a chance missed the last time England visited Edinburgh, when Stuart Lancaster’s team narrowly won 13-6.

However, Scotland’s recent record in home Calcutta Cup games is good, with wins in 2006, 2008 and a draw in 2010.  Under interim head coach Scott Johnson they’ll be looking to keep the Calcutta Cup in Scotland, long after the England team departs for home!
