    The benefits of a survey….

    The benefits of a survey….

The benefits of a survey….Surveys are a useful tool for working out what your customers and potential customers consider either before making a purchase, or choosing you over your competitors. It will give you welcome insight into what their decision-making style is, how confident they are at the moment about trying something new – and what they like and don’t like about your organisation or brand. You can even ask people who have completed your survey to do a few tests, maybe send a sample of your product and ask them to feedback. It really is entirely up to you how you use this powerful tool.

The information can be used in all parts of your organisation – from the NPD department or sales, to how you market to your current and potential customers in the future, be that via email marketing, blogs, social or other channels. General topic surveys can also be used for local PR and can get your name in the press – which can really raise your business’ profile. Your survey could be part general, part specific, it really is up to you.

Example of how a survey could benefit your new company

Say you were opening a new barber shop – perhaps you could survey people with beards – how have they coped in lockdown, what did they miss most about not being able to have their bead trimmed in person. How much do they believe it grew in lockdown? Some of these responses are nice, gimmicky ideas for PR, but what they missed the most about not visiting a barber will give you some valuable insight, and perhaps where you set yourselves apart for the competition when you open.

How do you set up a survey?

There are a number of different types of software out there available to you. From Smart Surveys and Survey Monkey to more specialised pieces of software – you can ask people to take part in a written survey, a video a physical sample survey… its entirely up to you.

Youcan also do face to face surveys by using experienced promotional staff.

    And how can we help?

Well in Scotland we have a pool of over 12,000 staff for you to choose from if you need to ask specific questions from a specific demographic. So you could use your current customers and then bulk up the survey with Envisage staff. This could be from a specific region of Scotland, or age group, or gender – it really is your choice.

      Scotland and the Events Industry

      Scotland and the Events Industry

The whole world has been shaken by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has seen events from Formula 1 to the Great British Beer Festival cancelled, with exhibitions across the nation being the first to cancel. In precautionary measures to increase the NHS capacity the Government have converted major exhibition centres, such as the Scottish Exhibition Centre into temporary hospital, which the NHS Louisa Jordan hospital (SEC) can now support an additional 300 beds for Scotland.

Does the events industry need to change?

Almost certainly, ways in which we interact with each other, not just in the event industry but in society, will be changed indefinitely. Not necessarily in a bad way though. We will have more awareness for people’s personal spaces, also learning to respect boundaries and in general being kinder to one another cannot be a negative thing.

We will all be more aware of our own surroundings and everybody’s health and personal wellbeing which can only act as an advantage to us all as we move forward.

How we envisage the industry to look post-lockdown…

With lockdown and social distancing guidelines in act, other industries and enterprises have had to adapt, much like the Events industry will have to. Many people have started to use social media platforms and video calling applications such as Skype and Zoom to interact, socialise, and share information.

An where this has been implemented is how Formula 1 teams partnered up with each other through Zoom to help produce valuable face masks for the NHS, this was achieved so promptly using these platforms, whereas ‘normal’ procedures would’ve taken many more weeks to complete and produce.

This can be transferred into the Events Industry, where interviews, training, and interactive demonstrations/presentations. Staff can be briefed prior to the event and pre-recorded material can be implemented more efficiently with social distancing in mind.

What else will change in Scotland?

As we see events returning to venues such as the Edinburgh International Conference Centre and Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre – we will no doubt see social distancing implemented where possible once lockdown has been eased.

There will be more distance between exhibition stalls, this is an even better chance for you to be noticed by hiring some of our fantastic and professional Scottish staff, who can draw footfall to your stand whilst following social distancing procedures.

As hygiene has been highlighted by the pandemic, there will be more sanitation stations where hand gels and facemasks will be provided, which our experienced staff can promote the new guidelines to visitors to ensure everyone is safe.

With social distancing also being recognised, our skilled marshals and ticket scanning staff can enforce any venue rules to ensure people are adhering to them, whilst competing their usual duties.

Call our friendly team on 0844 800 0071 to discuss your temporary staffing requirements.

So what is happening in the Scottish events industry?

So what is happening in the Scottish events industry_So what is happening in the Scottish events industry?

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have kept the “stay at home” message on longer than England, and so with that comes quite different rules, and therefore a difference in the relaxation of rules.

The First Minister is currently urging people to use caution and judgement as the easing of the lockdown rules commence.

The new rules (phase one, starting end May 2020) mean that people from two households can meet outside so long as they keep at least two metres apart. Sport is starting the benefit from the easing of the lockdown rules – people will also be able to take part in some non-contact sports, including golf, tennis, fishing and bowls, with the new season of the SPFL due to start at the end of July.

        And Scottish conferences/live events?

A great place to start is from the visit Scotland website https://www.visitscotland.org/events

The Scottish Government have a four phase process for moving Scotland slowly through the pandemic, events featuring in phases three and four. In all phases, the following rules need to be adhered to:

        • Physical distancing requirements in place (WHO guidance is 1m, UK is 2m)
        • regular handwashing and hygiene in place
        • Cough protocol is considered
        • Face masks for enclosed public spaces, including public transport

In phase three the virus has been suppressed. But there is still a focus on containing sporadic outbreaks. In this phase live events may be able to take place with restricted numbers and physical distancing restrictions in place.

In phase four (COVID-19 remains suppressed to very low level) large-scale events and mass gatherings could resume in line with public health advice.

We’ve also looked into some of the largest conference centres and their plans for the rest of 2020.

Scottish Event Campus and have temporarily converted their space to an NHS hospital for the time being, delaying and cancelling number of conferences. The earliest conferences will be re-instated (dependent on phase 4) is August 2020.

P&J Live have also postponed and cancelled conferences, and this is indefinite.

Edinburgh International Conference Centre are promoting events from September 2020

However, as with all phases, the Government cannot give a firm date for when we will move from one phase to another, so let’s just hope that the industry is back on it’s feet in September, with physical distancing and rules in place so people can safely enjoy conferences and live events once again.

Should You Hire Promotional Staff for CBD & Vape Scotland Expo?

Should You Hire Promotional Staff for CBD & Vape Scotland Expo_Should You Hire Promotional Staff for CBD & Vape Scotland Expo?

Vaping is big news in the UK and with the benefits of CBD oil also making the headlines on a regular basis, its no surprise to find the CBD & Vape Scotland Expo on the calendar for the SEC. Hiring promotional staff for this event makes sense but why? Is it right for your brand?

          Why hire promotional staff?

In its first year, the CBD & Vape Scotland Expo is answering a clear call from both domestic and trade customers around the increasingly popular habit of vaping.

As an industry, vaping and the CBD market are fast-paced. Smart technology plays a role in the hardware used by vapers. With technological solutions constantly changing, so too do the other accoutrements that vapers use.

New flavours of vaping juice form a steady stream to the marketplace and again, with vaping being seen as a hobby, there is a core of fans and vaping followers who have formed around it.

In other words, the expectations of both customer and supplier at the first CBD & Vape Scotland Expo are high. They want to see something new. They want an experience. They want to leave the expo having enjoyed the products on show and the products on offer.

          And that’s why hiring promotional staff for the CBD & Vape Scotland expo makes sound business sense;

          • Meet more people – it promises to be a busy event if the growing number of vapers in the UK is anything to go by. Some people turn to vaping as an alternative to smoking but there is a growing band of people who use vaping as a hobby and part of a social scene. As a vaping brand, you have stiff competition and so the more people and customers you meet, the better.
          • Create a memorable experience – on a busy trade show floor, being memorable is key to success. You want to be the brand that people and customers remember for all the right reasons. Promotional staff are marketing experts, people who understand that people buy from people. And so making a connection with customers is key. And in today’s world, that also means being memorable, something our promotional staff at this Scottish vaping expo will deliver.
          • Professional every minute of both days – this expo opens at 10am each day and closes at 6pm. Two long days with potentially hundreds if not thousands of people pouring through the doors. It’s hard to maintain the same level of energy and enthusiasm when you are hungry, tired or too cold or too hot, all common to the expo floor. Promotional staff come prepared and fully briefed as to their role for the time they are with your brand at this important trade show.

Seize every opportunity at the first CBD & Vape Scotland Expo – hire promotional staff

As well as local promotional staff, our experienced and talented pool of people have the knowledge of marketing on the expo floor that will catapult your brand in front of your competitors. Find out more – contact the Bookings Team today!

Should You Hire Promotional Staff for The Scottish Caravan, Motorhome & Holiday Home Show?

Should you hire promotional staff for the Scottish Caravan showShould You Hire Promotional Staff for The Scottish Caravan, Motorhome & Holiday Home Show?

Across the UK, there over half a million touring caravans and just shy of a quarter of a million motorhomes. Add to this the 360,000+ caravan holiday homes and you can soon see what the Scottish Caravan, Motorhome & Holiday Home Show is Scotland’s largest caravan, motorhome and holiday home show. But if you are exhibiting here, is hiring promotional staff a worthwhile investment?

The benefits of hiring promotional staff

From 6th to 9th February, SEC Glasgow will play host to this busy show. As well as thousands of people flocking through the doors, the exhibitor list is long – and still growing!

The popularity of caravanning and motorhoming is showing no signs of slowing. Ditching expensive and carbon footprint-busting flights for staycations, more travellers, including families, are opting for caravan holidays instead.

Situated in idyllic spots, the offer a chance to explore parts of the UK that are truly stunning. People who will be attending this show are already sold on this kind of holiday and way of travelling.

What they are looking for is information, as well as seeking out the latest innovations on offer. They may also be looking for their next caravan or motorhome hire, or the best places to stay for their next adventure.

            Hiring promotional staff has many benefits;

            • Your brand gets to ‘speak’ to more people – thousands of people are expected to attend the show but that doesn’t guarantee they will all stop by your stand. When they do, you want to talk to as many people as possible. Promotional staff are the people who make a difference to your brand by speaking with as many people as possible.
            • Qualify leads – some people like to have a conversation but are not at the point of buying. Other people are actively seeking to buy and this is the person who is a ‘qualified lead’. With experienced sales and promotional staff at the Scottish Caravan, Motorhome & Holiday Home Show, they can easily qualify people and the enquiries they make leaving you with a long list of people who are interested in buying your products or services.
            • Improved return on investment – you may make sales but are they enough to cover the costs of travel to the event, to hire the stand, furniture and electric? Exposure is all well good at these events but no business can shoulder the high costs of exhibiting without some kind of return. You may think that promotional staff are a financial step too far but time and again, we hear from clients that hiring staff for events such as this increases sales. And that means a much better return on investment.

Hire promo staff and services from us!

We have a growing database of professional, intelligent and skilled promotional staff and models. The perfect fit for this busy event, the promotional services on offer range from sales staff to demonstrators, flyering staff to brand ambassadors.

Essential Questions when Hiring a Venue Space for Your Scotland-Based Event

Essential Questions when Hiring a Venue Space for Your Scotland-Based Event

Essential Questions when Hiring a Venue Space for Your Scotland-Based EventIf you are planning an event, hiring a venue will be top of your list. But you need to get the right space in the right location, important for attracting an audience to your Scotland-based event.

But what questions should you be asking aside from cost and availability?

What are the opening hours and requirements linked to noise levels and so on?

Depending on the event, you will need to check when you can access the venue and how much time you are allocated once your event has finished to pack up. You will also want to know what the local by-laws are relating to noise levels etc.

As a venue, managers will be keen to keep their neighbours onside, important for Scottish event venues close to residential areas. Stay within their guidelines and venue rules for a successful event.

What arrangements can they accommodate for delivery of event props and equipment?

It would be unusual for an event not to have props of equipment and so you’ll probably find that the best Scottish venues will have thought of this in the form of arrangements for accepting delivery of equipment before the event.

They will, however, in all likelihood give you a window for when deliveries will be accepted and pick up dates by when your equipment will need to have been picked up post-event.

You may find you will be charged extra for storage if you don’t arrange for items to be collected quickly after the end of your event.

                What about insurance for equipment?

Included in some venue hire charges will be insurance but you will need to check what this does and doesn’t cover. For example, if you are leaving equipment or props overnight or unattended at the venue, does their insurance offer some kind of cover.

You will also need to check your own insurance and you need to be clear what is covered and where so you don’t risk losing your equipment.

What amenities are for there for event staff to use?

It’s easy to assume that because you are hiring a premier venue in Scotland that you’ll have everything you need in one place… but this isn’t always the case!

For example, check about things such as kitchen space or bathrooms because what you don’t want is to find that to use these space you have to hire them outside of your current agreement.

In fact, what is included in the cost of hiring the venue?

Be thorough and pragmatic when it comes to hiring a venue for your Scotland-based event. Opt for a venue that is in the right location but also offers everything you need. And that means asking what is included in the cost of hiring the venue.

Does it include refreshments for event staff, use of certain facilities and so on? Some event venues offer a ‘build your own package’ price whilst others offer a fixed price for a fixed service. Which works best for your event and budget?

                Don’t forget to ask about…

Event security – is it provided or are you expected to provide security staff?
                • Rubbish and recycling – not all event venues will remove rubbish and recycling after the event. Check the small print!
